Melbourne & Sydney: Vertical Sprawling (a photo essay)

Here’s just a spread of photos I’ve been taking lately due to a fixation on new apartments, planned city blocks and construction sites. Some of the sites in particular I’ve become interested in is the Green Square development in Sydney, and the range of new boutique apartments plonked in Melbourne’s CBD and South Side. I’m intensely interested in these as products and mirrors of contemporary society – it’s aspirations, it’s corruption, it’s money, foreign investment and the globalisation of capital. These are locations wrapped up in the utopianism of marketing speak, tied into concepts such as lifestyle, layered in culture.
